Yosemite Village
Vision Plan
Yosemite Village Vision Plan: connecting a congested and confusing park area to its future as a welcoming national park gateway.
Designed and built in the 1910’s as an elegant National Park visitor destination, today’s experience is chaotic with pedestrian and vehicle conflicts, underutilized structures and views obscured by overgrown vegetation.
To create a vision that balances competing objectives between park resources and visitor access, an inclusive teamwork environment was needed. Red Bridge Group applied our team-based collaborative model to this work with NPS and the Yosemite Conservancy, creating a vision for a new and exceptional visitor experience in the Village. Cathie Barner led the plan; Red Bridge Group members CMG provided landscape design, while Macchiato and Hunt Design created concepts for interpretive exhibits and wayfinding.
The result is an exciting, consensus-driven plan that will elevate the visitor experience to new levels, creating a variety of ways for parkgoers to experience this world-renowned national park.
